Privacy policy

Last updated: 8 May 2026

irish-finances.com is a free, information-only website. We're built to be the boring kind of trustworthy. The simplest version of this policy is: we don't collect your personal data, and the calculators run entirely in your browser. The longer version is below.

What we collect

The honest answer:

  • Calculator inputs — your salary, pension percentage, credits selected, etc. — stay in your browser. We never send them to a server. The URL state feature encodes them into the address bar so you can refresh or share, but no copy is held by us.
  • Standard server logs — when you visit a page, our hosting provider (currently Vercel, EU regions only) records the request: IP address, timestamp, user-agent, page requested. These are kept for at most 30 days for security and abuse prevention, then deleted. We don't read them unless something is broken.
  • No third-party analytics, no ad trackers, no Facebook Pixel. If we ever add cookieless analytics (e.g. Plausible), we'll update this page first.

Cookies

We use no non-essential cookies. The site does not require login. See the cookie policy for the full picture (it's short).

Where we process any personal data (server logs are the only example), the legal basis under Article 6 GDPR is our legitimate interest in keeping the site running and free of abuse, balanced against your privacy. You can object — see your rights below.

Your GDPR rights

Under GDPR you have the right to:

  • Know what data we hold about you (subject access request)
  • Have it corrected if it's wrong
  • Have it deleted
  • Have processing restricted
  • Receive your data in a portable format
  • Object to processing
  • Lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Commission (DPC)

Practically, since we hold almost nothing, most requests will result in a "we have nothing to give you" reply. If a server log entry contains your IP, we can find and delete it on request.

Contact us

For any privacy question, email privacy@irish-finances.com. We aim to respond within 5 working days; GDPR allows up to one month.

To complain to the regulator: Data Protection Commission, Ireland.

Children

The site isn't aimed at anyone under 16. We don't knowingly collect data from children. If you're a parent and believe your child has submitted data through a form on this site, contact us and we'll delete it.

Changes to this policy

When we update this page, we'll bump the date at the top and add a short note here. Material changes (e.g. introducing analytics) will be flagged on the home page for a week.
